2. Toyota Innova Hycross
Toyota India has taken the wraps off the highly anticipated Innova Hycross which will likely be positioned above the Innova Crysta in India and will be sold alongside the Japanese carmaker bread and butter MPV. The new Toyota Innova Hycross is a huge step-up compared to the Innova Crysta in every aspect and is underpinned by Toyota’s modular TNGA-C: GA-C platform. In fact, it has a monocoque construction instead of the ladder-on-frame body, which has led to a 200 kg weight reduction, and power goes to the front wheels. Yes! The most supreme Innova is now front-wheel-drive (FWD).
It will be offered in both petrol and a strong hybrid model and both will get 4 variants each.

3. Mahindra eKUV 100
The Mahindra eXUV300 is the all-electric version of the carmaker’s popular subcompact SUV, the XUV300. The Mahindra eXUV300 concept made its global debut at the Auto Expo 2020, and it is set to become the company’s first electric SUV from the home-grown automaker, after the eKUV100. The XUV300 electric comes with an electric motor, powered by a Lithium-Ion battery, driving the front wheels of the SUV. The eXUV300 is based in the company’s new electric powertrain platform that will also be used by SsangYong in the European Markets.
The Mahindra eXUV300 showcased at the Auto Expo is powered by a 40 kWh Lithium-Ion battery pack which is capable of delivering a range of more than 300 km on a single charge. However, the company plans to bring in two variants of the electric SUV – a standard variant with a range of 250-300 km and long-range model with more power and a larger battery that will offer a range of 350-400 km on a single charge. The eXUV300 will be the first product with battery cells developed by LG Chem that has been working with Mahindra in the field of advanced lithium-ion battery technology.

4. New Hyundai Kona Electric
The 2021 Hyundai Kona Electric facelift gets a redesgined front that looks more distinctive, while the cabin features more tech and features over the outgoing version. It was back in September that Hyundai revealed the Kona facelift with the new N Line bodykit for the world and we now have the electric version of the compact SUV in the facelifted avatar. The 2021 Hyundai Kona Electric facelift was unveiled recently and the model gets a comprehensive styling refresh and packs in a host of new technological upgrades to make the model more appealing. The new Kona Electric is also the more important version from an India standpoint and we expect the model to arrive in the country sometime next year.
With respect to visual changes, the 2021 Hyundai Kona Electric facelift now sports a completely new front that sets it apart from its petrol and diesel counterpart. The grille has been swapped for an angular front that improves the car’s aerodynamics as well, while the new asymmetric charging port is more distinctive, which Hyundai says has been made that way to “make a strong statement about driving electric.” The front also gets slimmer LED headlamps with a new internal pattern, while the front bumper sports additional and smaller air intakes.
At the rear, styling changes include a revised bumper that gets additional lights with a new design. The LED taillights have been slightly reshaped for a fresh appeal. Compared to the pre-facelift version, the new Kona Electric is now stretched by 40 mm in length, while the wheelbase remains the same at 2600 mm. The length was also extended on the petrol and hybrid versions of the crossover with the facelift.

5. Hyundai Ioniq 5
Hyundai too is gearing up to launch its second EV in India, and it is the EV6’s counterpart, the Hyundai IONIQ 5. The electric crossover from Hyundai will arrive at a later date, compared to the EV6, sometime around late October 2022. And yes, we were the first one to tell you that as well. Interestingly, unlike Kia, Hyundai will locally assemble the IONIQ 5 at its Chennai plant, which will make it considerably cheaper than the EV6.
Hyundai plans to leverage the abundant interior space and vast power supply capacity of EVs to integrate home electronics and appliances in its future IONIQ models, all customizable depending on customers’ needs and lifestyles.
